How do we build our capacity to plan for our water needs? How can we ensure a climate-resilient sustainable future? How can participatory governance processes improve water security in Indian cities?

As part of project Hanigalu, we have developed a classroom training tool in collaboration with Prof. Manu Mathai and Prof. Rajesh Joseph from Azim Premji University,  Bangalore Sustainability Forum and Architecture for Dialogue (AfD). This simulation-based learning tool aims to explore concepts related to water security planning for a city and the importance of data to create a local level plan. Curious to know more? AFFORDABLE HOUSING

What forms of affordable housing allows for an upward shift in economic, social and physical mobility? What are the trade-offs between sustainable and affordable housing? How can we understand the relationship between affordable housing and well-being?
These are some of the questions we explore with respect to the interaction of affordable housing and wellbeing for the urban poor as part of our affordable housing project.
The main objective of the project is to undertake research to create a computational model to understand how affordable housing programmes and policies affect the urban poor so that we can improve both the efficacy and delivery of such programmes. The model is designed as a training tool for policymakers.

A short video where Srinidhi, one of our researchers talks about her research on affordable housing and the simulation model that is being developed under this project.
